I still remember when this video went viral as it was my first food-centric video that did NUMBERS. I think it might be my most viewed video ever. I always say it was because of the ridiculous voiceover I did during it, but so many people still recreate this recipe it’s crazy! This is Cilbir, a popular Turkish breakfast that is still one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy it!
Ingredients:
2 eggs poached (I have an article up on how to poach eggs)
3/4 cup Greek yogurt
2 cloves of garlic minced
4-5 mint leaves sliced
a handful of parsley chopped
salt and pepper to taste
a splash of lemon
spiced butter
1.5 tbsp butter
pinch of Aleppo pepper OR
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes and 1/2 tsp paprika
Method:
Mix together the yogurt, chopped mint, and minced garlic together. Season with salt, pepper, and some lemon juice.
Make the butter by mixing together the butter and spices, and then melting it together. Keep warm on the side.
Poach your eggs until the yolks are the consistency you like, then drain them on a paper towel and season with salt.
On a plate, place the yogurt and spread it out. Then, add the eggs and pour the spiced butter on top.
Eat with a nice slice of bread and enjoy!
