Spicy Sticky Miso Braised Brussel Sprouts
Part 2 of what you need to make for Christmas this year!
I’m a firm believer in thinking outside the box to jazz up your holiday table. While it can be hard to feel inspired by the variety of winter vegetables, the humble sprout COULD and SHOULD be given its due respect. Think of it like a tiny little sponge for so many yummy sauces and flavors. This might be the EASIEST recipe in the world!!!!
I hope you enjoy this recipe!
Ingredients:
1 bag brussels sprouts cut in half
sauce
2 tbsp light soy sauce
2 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
2 tbsp honey
1 tsp chili flakes
2 cloves of grated garlic
2 tbsp miso paste
3 tbsp water
1 tbsp oil
1 spring onion sliced on a bias
Methods:
Slice the root of the brussel sprout and then slice it in half.
Make your sauce in a bowl and set it to the side.
In a pan over medium heat, add 1 tbsp of oil and let it heat up.
Put the brussel sprouts flat-side down on the pan. You don’t want them to touch.
Get them golden brown on the flat side. As soon as they’re golden brown, pour half the sauce in. Let it bubble and reduce down until thick and sticky.
Flip the sprouts over and pour the remaining sauce over. Let that reduce down and get sticky.
Put on a plate and garnish with some sliced spring onions.
