Hello from Prague!!!!!
I’m sitting here, Saturday night, wondering how my life has turned out this way! All because I started making my little food videos.
I’m currently in Prague for a Pakistani food week that the Pakistani ambassador to the Czech Republic is hosting in collaboration with SILQ, a restaurant in Prague.
Her Excellency, Ambassador Ayesha Ali has kindly invited me to be the guest chef in charge of curating this menu and promoting Pakistani food to the Czech people. It’s a real honor and an opportunity I don’t take for granted- especially knowing how protective Pakistanis are of our food (and for good reason!).
It’s been a bit of a crazy week leading up to it as I had to work all my shifts at the restaurant in one go so that I could take time off for this opportunity. So, by the time Friday rolled around, I was well and truly exhausted to my core. You know that deep-set exhaustion that only occurs from going to work, sleeping, and then heading straight back to work. My legs had literally swelled up to twice the size from all the standing and lifting I was doing LOL!
So, when I had to wake up at 3 A.M to catch my flight to Prague this morning, it definitely took a lot out of me. So much so that I misread the boarding time and almost missed my flight! After a very embarrassing run through the airport, I luckily made it just as the gate was closing (and after an even more embarrassing earful from the gate agent), and promptly fell right back asleep for the entirety of the flight.
But, I’m super excited to be here and I can’t wait to document all my experiences and days bringing this event to life.
In the meantime, here are some of the recipes I created for the menu this week! Some are controversial, others are traditional- but they’re all yummy!
Lots of love,
Laila xx
